Exothermic Brazing
Exothermic brazing is yet another brazing process which depends on the heat
source to melt down & flow the commercial filler which is generated by
the reaction of many solid state exothermic chemical compounds.
This particular exothermic chemical reaction has its own definition which
one must understand for a greater knowledge about Exothermic brazing. This
reaction is just like nay other reaction which occurs between two or more
reactants where the system's free energy helps in giving away the heat.
These reactions are caused with solid state or
solid-state-metal-metal-oxide. These are one among the many & countless
reactions available in nature. Perfect for use in exothermic brazing units,
these even make use of simplified tooling and equipment.
Heating of Exothermic Mixture
Exothermic mixture is ignited with the help of either of the following :
- Flame
- Hot Spark
- Resistance Heater
Infrared Brazing Process
The process employed in the particular brazing method allows the reaction
of heat which helps in bringing the adjoining or nearby metal interfaces to
a certain temperature. At this point, the preplaced brazing filler metal
melts and wets the metal interface surfaces. There is commercial
availability of brazing filler metal made as per the requirements of the
varied melting and flow temperatures. The only drawback of this brazing
method is the metal thickness which should be heated through, thereupon,
leaving an effect on the metal properties.
