A bellow is a device, which is used for providing pressurized air in a
controlled quantity to a controlled location. It is a deformable container
which has an outlet nozzle through which the air escapes outside, when the
volume of the bellows is decreased. It has a separate inlet and valves or
flaps, which ensures the entrance of air only through the inlet and exits
only through the outlet.

Bellows are made of variety of materials and used in a number of
applications. Metal bellows are used in the metallurgical industry.
Stainless steel bellows are used in the hydraulic systems where components
are subjected to very high loads.
Brazing Application
In the hydraulic systems stainless steel bellows are joined to brass using
brazing. Induction brazing is the most efficient brazing method suited for
this purpose.
- Brazing Alloys: The brazing alloys used for brazing
the stainless steel bellows, in case of induction brazing, are silver
based. Silver brazing alloys offer excellent brazing strength to the
bellows. The zinc free silver alloys are preferred.
- Composition: The nominal constituents of the brazing
alloy used for the brazing of stainless steel bellows include:
- Silver: It is the primary constituent of the brazing
alloys, constituting more than fifty percent.
- Copper: It is the second most important constituent of
these alloys.
- Tin: Tin is the also the valuable constituent of these
alloys.
- Others: Other elements can be found in traces, such as
aluminum, bismuth, cadmium, phosphorous, lead, and silicon.
Application of Bellows
Bellows are having various application in all types of such as
- Engineering / Mechanical Industries
- Hydraulics / Pneumatic Industries
- Cement & Tiles Industries
- Grinding M/C Manufacturing Industries
- Computerized / Scientific Instrumentation
